Is Your Furnace or HVAC System Ready? Winter is Right Around the Corner

St. Louis, MO: (RhymesHeating.com) – Although temperatures lately haven’t reflected it, Winter is right around the corner, so is your HVAC System ready?  Now is the time to take advantage of the extended warmer weather and make sure that you and your family stay safe and warm this winter by checking your furnace or HVAC system.  Here are a few things that you can do to help reduce the risk of high heating bills:

  1. You could save 15% on your heating bill just by changing your filter.  It’s easy and inexpensive. At the very least you should change your filter when the seasons change.  Ideally you at least check if not change your filter monthly.
  1. Do you have a wood burning fireplace?  We all love the sound and feel of a roaring fire but you need to make sure that it’s safe.  Having your chimney inspected and swept will remove soot and the potential buildup of carbon monoxide.
  1. Another inexpensive thing you can do is to winterize you’re A/C unit.  This will prevent the elements from getting in and causing costly repairs when the weather warms up.
  1. There’s nothing worse than a draft house.  Sealing air leaks will save you lots of money on your energy bills. We all know to check our windows.  What about your doors, plumbing lines chimneys and flues?  Make sure you check your doors to ensure that the weather stripping is intact.  Check for gaps around your chimneys, flues and plumbing lines.

It’s very important to us that everyone in our service area is safe and warm this winter.  Make sure that all your fire detectors are in working order and don’t use space heaters during waking hours when you are home.  If you have questions about your furnace or HVAC system contact us today.
